Wuzhong is famous in Ningxia for ShouZhua which is lamb ribs slow cooked so that they are tender. ShouZhua means grab. The idea is to pick up the piece of meat, dip it into a dark vinegar and garlic sauce and eat it. It is a Hui and Wuzhong speciality. This is one of the most famous restaurants in Ningxia for this dish.
This restaurant is a favorite of locals and tourists. It is a popular destination for groups and weddings. It has many rooms upstairs as well as a large dining area on the first floor. Lunch is normally the busiest time.
There is a picture menu with many options. The restaurant is also famous for its version of eight treasure tea. It packages the tea and sells it as well. You can order the tea in a pitcher or a tea cup. The tea cup is the best way to experience the tea. If you do not know how to use the lid on the cup to keep the tea leaves and nuts out of your mouth, ask a server to show you the proper way to use the cup.
This restaurant also has nice silverware for those who are not comfortable using chopsticks. If they see you struggling with chopsticks, they will bring forks and knives.
Next to the Yellow Rivers in Wuzhong is a large sports complex. It has multiple turf soccer fields, track, basketball courts, tennis courts, sand volleyball, badminton and much more. There is also a nice track that runs along the Yellow River for miles.
On most days, this sports complex is empty. Locals shared with us that they come out at night to play games at the complex.
