The Yinchuan Railway Station is located on Shanghai West Road. Trains daily take passengers to Beijing, Xi’an, Lanzhou, and many other cities. Currently, you can take an overnight train to Beijing (about 11 hour trip) as well as an overnight train to Xi’an (about 12 hour trip).
A high speed (bullet train) is being built between Yinchuan and Xi’an. Once it is completed in 2020, it will be possible to travel between the two cities in about 5 hours.
If you are traveling through the Yinchuan train station, you can buy tickets on the right side (north side) of the station. Tickets sale out weeks in advance, so buy early.
To enter the main part of the station, you will need your passport or Chinese ID (if you are Chinese citizen) with your train ticket. All bags will be scanned upon entry as well as your ticket. You can take liquids into the train station, but you cannot take large knives or any types of weapons.
If you are saying bye to your friends, you will need to do this outside the station as only passengers are allowed inside.
Trains normally begin boarding about 20 minutes before departure if the train originates in Yinchuan.

The station is simple to navigate and it’s new- which means it is clean! You can buy tickets on the north side and enter at the middle of the station. I’ve found if you’re patient with attendants, they’ll also be patient. You can’t go everywhere from this station, but there are long rides to Chengdu, Changsha, Beijing, and Shanghai; as well as regional destinations like Lanzhou, Xining, Baotou, and Xi’an.
