If you ever find yourself in the province of Ningxia, a great place to visit is Shapotou. Shapotou is a famous tourist attraction that is located in the southwest part of Ningxia in a city called ZhongWei.
You can get to Shapotou by bus or taxi. I would recommend traveling by taxi rather than taking a bus. Once you get there, tickets cost around 80 yuan, but if you are a student and have your Identification card with you, your ticket will cost 40 yuan.
After you get your tickets at the entrance of the park, there are places where you can buy some souvenirs. These stores also sell hats and scarfs in case you are worried about the sun. If you are not wanting to spend more money, I would advise bringing a hat because the sun can be brutal out in the desert.
The site offers different activities such as camel rides, zip lining, sand sliding, and other fun things. To reach the camel activity, you must take a bus. You can pay for a round trip bus ticket for 30 yuan. My friends and I rode a bus up to the camels but after we got there, a cold wind came over and brought dust into the air. As a result, they shut down the camel activity for the rest of the day. So, if you can plan in advance, I would recommend making sure you go on a clear day, so you do not have to worry about your time at the park being cut short.
After they canceled the camel activities, we went back to the sand sliding. We were at the top of hill where you could pay 40 yuan to slide down a huge hill of sand. The sand sliding was a fun experience and something everyone should try. Shapotou has much to offer and honestly might cross some things off your bucket list while visiting.
